How much safe and reliable is to book a hotel online ?

Q. We 6 friend are going to Goa in last week of November this year.I want to find hotel on internet and book same online. Please guide me as to which site is most reliable, and all other points to keep in mind while booking hotel online.

A. You can consider the major famous booking sites as âsafeâ. My friends and I, have all had problem free experiences. With the ones I have used your card is only debited when you pay at the hotel (though the booking site has taken your c.c. â so you can be charged if you donât turn up).

The majority of bookings will be problem free (however with many millions of bookings there are bound to be some unhappy customers).

Things to look out for:

Cancellation:

You may wish to cancel your booking due to illness or transport disruption (e.g. volcanic ash) etc. Some rates offered may be fully non-refundable (hopefully the site will clearly identify this). So if refunds and cancellation policy are important to you â check the appropriate terms and conditions for the booking on the web-site.

Overbooking:

Note this applies whether booking online, via travel agent, or direct with the hotel/chain. Many hotels/chains employ sophisticated calculations and allow their rooms to be overbooked, on the basis of no shows (see this statement by a UK hotel chain http://www.travelodge.co.uk/help/index.php?category=1 "Like almost all other hotel companies, we overbook some of our hotels" and "On rare occasions, it may become necessary for us to outbook you and find you suitable alternative accommodation in the local area".) Itâs rare, and is down to the hotel, it makes no difference whether you booked with a website booking company, travel agent or direct with the hotel.

Who to use:

http://hotels.via.us.com It will search 33 major and reputable booking sites (Priceline.com Expedia, Laterooms, Hotels.com etc) and hotel chains for you. It will list available hotels (with maps, pics and reviews) and the different prices offered by the various booking sites.

You click on the deal you want and are taken to the Hotel Chain or Booking Sites own website to book or check out more info. There is no add on to the price for this service.

Another advantage is that because it searches/compares all these sites, you have a wider choice of hotels, and click through access to all the booking sites customer reviews for your selected hotel.

We believe this is the best hotel price comparison/search engine on the net, and are proud to have licensed it for our site.

Is the Trump hotel in Las Vegas recommended?
Q. How is the Trump Hotel in comparison with Luxor, Excalibur, Monte Carlo or the Mirage hotel?
These were the hotels I was considering. But I noticed Trump hotel was an inexpensive hotel, and looked as a fine Hotel.
I just want to know if it's recommended, as I didn't hear about it before...

Thanks in advance

A. From the list you provided, I will choose in this order.

The Mirage
Trump International
Monte Carlo
Luxor
Excalibur

Trump is actually a very nice and clean hotel that's within walking distance to the Vegas strip. Trump is however a non-gaming hotel. The reason they have great rates at the moment is because of the competition from the gaming casinos. The hotel is less than 3yrs old.

How can I market a hotel that is already a strong brand?
Q. I am doing my uni practical for three months in marketing at a 4 star hotel. The problem here for me is that our target market is internationals so I can't advertise much here, and most of promotional ideas ive come up with have already been done. Is there anyone that can come up with a great idea?

A. what you need to do is advertise with international airlines. you need to get the hotel in the airline magazines and featured at airports. this way when people travel to a foreign nation and dont know where to stay they will have your brand already in their mind and it will seem familiar to them. they will choose your brand more often because its familiar. you could also offer discount coupons in those shopping magazines on planes or in magazines and newspapers at major airports(JFK, La Guardia, O'Hare, LAX) .

Another idea would be to join websites like expedia or travelocity if you are not partnered with them. Many more people are shopping online for deals now that price comparison is just a click away. You may have to offer discounted rooms but your rooms occupied ration should increase by enough to be more profitable.

Hosting events is also a major way to advertise a hotel brand. You sponsor a major sporting event, convention, or concert. An example would be like Motel Six sponsors the professional bowling association and hosts events. Get in on trends like texas hold em poker or the x games to reach out to younger generations. You need to find out if the costs will be worth the revenue gains to take on a sponsorship.

Last I would look into other forms of transportation to hook up with because moving people=people who need a hotel. Look at advertsing on trains, buses, or boats in europe and asia.

If you get a good job and make it to the top reward me with a job in the future.
