How much would it cost to drive from Toronto to Vancouver and back?

Q. We're planning a road trip to Vancouver in July. Approx how much would it cost for the gas? We figure it will be about a 48 hour straight drive through Canada, not the US

A. To calculate the cost, add the following factors:
1. If renting a car - for how many days, and cost with insurance.
2. Cost of gas/milage
3. Hotel/motel bills if you are stopping for the night
4. Cost of food
5. Cost of snacks to keep you busy on the long ride

What are the best areas of Vancouver are best to stay?
Q. I'm thinking of taking my girlfriend to Vancouver for her birthday in August. I've never been and would ask if anyone recommend the best areas of the city to stay? Thanks for your help.

A. coal harbor is an extremely nice area, but good luck finding a hotel that merciful to wallets. Some good areas to go are Stanley park (it may still be closed after a recent major windstorm) Granville Island, Kitsilano Beach... for a beautiful hike/walk, go to Indian Arm for a nature hike. You could also take the Vancouver Ferry to Bowen island (very foresty) or Vancouver island. Good luck!

Driving from Los Angeles to Vancouver Canada and want to stop off at two places on route. Any suggestions?
Q. We were thinking of stopping off at San Francisco as I would love to see that city and also Seattle. Would these two cities be good to break up the journey evenly? We also need pet friendly hotels, so any suggestions there would be really appreciated too. Thanks!

A. San Francisco is truly a beautiful city, and making your first stop there is a very wise choice. There is lots to see and so much to do... make sure to stop by alcatraz! Ive been to Seattle many times, but it is significantly boring when compared to your first stop. Seattle has the space needle, fishermans market, and more, but the downtown is dead. There are only executives and homeless people there... definitely not tourist friendly. Stopping in Seattle would mean a long drive between San Francisco - Seattle, and then only 3 hours to Vancouver. One leg of your trip would be very long, and the others very short. If you would like to split the trip up evenly into three, stop in Portland! It has a great vibrancy and the downtown is very tourist friendly. There are many clubs, restaurants, and shops lining the streets, in addition, its a pretty historic town. It is similar to Vancouver, which is the most tourist friendly after San Francisco. Im sure you will have an amazing trip if you do the LA-SF-Portland-Vancouver route. Hope that helps.
